Waiouru hospital to be downgraded
Waiouru's army hospital looks set to be downgraded but will not be closing, according to army officials. Army Training Group chief of staff Lieutenant Colonel Clive Sinclair said Waiouru Hospital and other army medical facilities around the
country are under review. Waiouru's facilities look likely to be downgraded from a hospital to a medical treatment centre which will still include resident doctors, nurses and an overnight bed. In the instance of an emergency patients
would be transferred elsewhere. Waiouru would continue to have more than adequate medical facilities which would not fall below that of a medical treatment centre. "Anything less than that would not do the job," said Lt Col Sinclair.
