SPORTS FIELDS TO BE BUILT IN WAIOURU

The Army has approved the construction of an international standard, all weather softball diamond at Patterson Field, as well as two new rugby fields at the Patterson Field extension, and an artificial cricket wicket and practice wicket at Hamilton Field. The four existing rugby fields are also to be renovated. The summer sports facilities are expected to be ready before the summer sports season and the rugby fields ready well before next year's season. The work is being carried out by members of the clubs concerned, Army engineering personnel as well as specialist contractors and is expected to cost around $40,000, says the project's co-ordinator Pauline Murphy.
