Mt radio ends this weekend

Ski FM winds up their operation this Saturday, 7 October with an end of broadcast bash at Hot Lava nightclub. The evening includes a draw for the major Kiwi Lager Breakfast Club prize of a pair of Atomic Arc skis. Station Manager John radio performance Campbell says he's which has included expleased with this year's tended hours. He said

advertising revenue was down, however, especially from some of the "monopoly" type retailers in Ihe area. He says a lack of advertising support by some had seriously jeopardized full-time radio plans discussed in the past for the area and "must also affect even short-term broadcasts" if the operating costs of Ski FM, which run to about $65,000 for the 11-12 week's broadcast period are to be covered. Another minor source of contention has been the difference perceived between non-profit community notices and that of radio "classifieds" such as for garage saies. However, Mt Campbell says that station owner Dave Campbell has made the commitment to operate Ski FM .next year, and that he and his crew "end this year with the very best wishes until then."
