FORESTRY WORKERS HELP FIGHT CONTORTA

Would-be idle Tasman Forestry Limited workers have been helping out in the battle against Pinus contorta. The workers have been employed by the Department of Conservation to clear the weed trees from the Rangitaiki block, during a period when they would have otherwise been idle because of the waterfront dispute. DoC and Tasman Forestry are sharing the cost of the weed clearing work.
