Squash tourney
Recently the Waimarino Squash Club held its annual end of year internal tournament with the final of the ladies and mens club championships being played after the finals of the internal tournament. On the Saturday night a pot of luck tea was held, combined with the presentation of trophies for the year and a farewell for club members Bernie and Shirley McGahan who are ontransfer to Kaikohe. Results of the internal tournament and trophy presentation are as follows: Division I - Winner: John Laurensen. Runner Up: Bernie McGahan. Special Plate: Grant Pope. Plate: Marty McGrath. Division II - Winner: Carol Leary. Runner Up: Greg
Sharrott. Special Plate: Lesley Todd. Plate: Mana Moana. Cons Plate: Nancy Parata. Division III - Winner: John Binziggar. Runner Up: Blair Hope. Special Plate: Lynn Pope. Plate: Mike Ryan. Cons Plate: Shirley McGahan. Division IV - Winner: Rauna TeHuia. Runner Up: Delia Siddells. Special Plate: Girl Munn. Plate: Tania Mott. Cons. Plate: Bridget Grave. Club Championship: Ladies Winner: Aroha Irwin. Runner Up: Christine Hawira. Mens Winner: Ross Gillett. Runner Up: Nick Veale. Points Prize: Ladies, Rauna TeHuia: Mens, Stu Fowlie. Most Improved: Senior, Greg Sharrott: Junior, Daniel Siddells. On 23 September is the annual SquashRugby match and on the 10, 11 and 12 November is another internal tournament combined with the squash dinner on the Saturday night and the A.G.M. on the Sunday afternoon.
