New game in town

The Raetihi and Ohakune bookshop owners will have you scratching to find a more exciting way to spend a dollar from this Thursday.

McLean's Bookshop in Raetihi and Berry's Bookshop in Ohakune are introducing the new "Instant Kiwi" lottery from Thursday. The lottery takes the place of the longrunning Golden Kiwi. Ticket buyers simply

scratch out three identical figures on one ticket to win a prize. Neil McLean believes if the new Instant Kiwi is supported in Raetihi, the town will have a chance of getting its own Lotto outlet. At present Raetihi Lotto

players must buy their tickets in Ohakune. Instant Kiwi tickets cost just one dollar for a one in seven chance to win. The maximum prize is $10,000 and there will be five top prizes available around New Zealand each week. Mr McLean says he hopes the new game will give Raetihi people a little boost.
