Ohakune painter Bev Kerr (pictured) won the Waimarino District Award for her painting "Whakapapanui". Bev says she has done very little painting over the past few years but that her success has encouraged her to do more. "Whakapapanui" was started two years ago but had lain in a cupboard unfinished since then, after she was interupted to cook dinner for her husband, the cats spilt her paint palette on the floor and put oily footprints all around the kitchen! From her involvement in the awards Bev has learned that a number of people she knew are also keen artists and crafts people and they are planning to get together on a regular basis to work at their art.
