EXTRA WAIOURU LAWNS MONEY SPENT BY ARMY

In awarding Waiouru Military Camp's lawn mowing contract to Works Corp the Defence Department "squandered money", according to Opposition Defence spokesman Don McKinnon. The contract was put out for tender last year and Works Corp's price was almost $100,000 more than the cheapest, he said. He says the decision showed that the tendering system needs reviewing. Last year eight tenders were received for the year ending 1 October 1989.
