110 art entries!

Paintings entered in the Ohakune Art Awards have been flooding in this week, from about 110 different artists. Convenor Ellen Gould said she expects there will be about 200 paintings in all, with many artists submitting more than one work. Last year there were just 64 artists represented. Mrs Gould puts the increase largely down to a greater interest from young artists, with a special award available for them. This year the works will be on display at the Ohakune Primary School Hall in Arawa Street and a preview will be held on Sunday 3 September.
