Moderator visits

The Moderator of the New Zealand Presbyterian Church, the Right Reverend Neil Churcher addressed a luncheon meeting at Ohakune last Saturday. He spoke on the traditional training of students at the Presbyterian Knox Theological Hall Dunedin for the 'Diploma of Ministry'. Three changes were taking place in the rural ministry, one taken by the Waimarino congregation where an elder is inducted to the giving and teaching of the word and sacrament. Ces and Lola Goodwin are presently in their second year of ministry which is the only one in New Zealand under the auspices of the Presbyterian Church. Reverend Churcher gave words of encouragement, "and backed it up from central church by supplying the Manse with a new log fire.
