Tumblers' results
The junior competitive Turoa Tumblers gymnasts competed in an Inter Club competition held at the Ruapehu College community gymnasium on Saturday, 5 AugusL In girls grade eight, Jessie Pope performed well to be placed 1st on floor and vault and secured a silver medal for herself. Jenny Murdie rose to the occasion to have her best performance of the season in being placed 2nd on floor and beam and winning the bronze medal. The excellent work continued with the grade seven girls with Kelly Swain having an outstanding day coming lst on bar and 2nd on beam and floor and winning the gold medal. Caralie Abbott's consistent work with a 3rd on beam won her the silver medal. Kerri Allerby was lst on
vault and Denise Waerea 3rd on bars and all the girl's combined efforts won them the team gold medal. The boys had a hard act to follow but they too competed well, with Daniel Foster coming first on floor, vault and rings and rightfully the gold medal for Grade nine. Daniel Pearson came 2nd on vault, rings and High bars and won the bronze medal. Scott Nation, who performed the best handstand to be seen all day, was lst on Parallel bars and 2nd on floor. John Hays and Andrew Murdie competing in a highly competitive grade eight showed that they will be a force to be reckoned with next year. This weekend the senior gymnasts travel to Gisborne to represent Wanganui Manawatu at the North Islands Championships.
