'Dynamic' health group changes

BY

PHELIPPA

FRENCH

Dynamic and brillant were words used to desribe the work of the Waiouru Community Health Watch Committee at the meeting for the election of new members held in Waiouru Monday last week. Chairperson Maggie Ball presented her report outlining on previous three years' work by the committee. They undertook a huge amount of projects including running babysitting courses, a programme providing get-well bags for sick children, emergency call-out lists, a complaints department, a woman's clinic and the Health fair to name just a few. Mrs Betty Bourke, Wanganui Area Health Board Chairman, spoke

to the meeting saying the future of the Health Watch Committee depends entirely on the amount of community support and input. She praised the baby

sitting course set up by the committee and feels it is an idea that could be used throughout the whole country. A resolution to forward the following 14

names to the Wanganui Area Health Board was made and the meeting was closed: Terry Fisk, Susanne SimmonsKopa, Kate Hutchinson, Karen Wcrthington,

Libby Tuthill, Gordon Mottram, Kathy Frater, Nia Carter, Marcella Manihera-Rowles, Rex Tuiono, Heather Tipene, Robyn Rewharewha, Ruth Jensen.
