Sweat, skill and loads of fun and laughter were the vibes bouncing off the walls of the Raetihi School Hall this week as the rock 'n' roll workshop dancers rocked to the beat of the 50's. Adults and children from the age of four helped each other train their feet and swing their bodies to the rhythm, creating co-or-dination and self confidence between each other and within themselves. The group meet every Wednesday night _ at seven o'clock and alternative Sunday afternoons at 2 pm, under the instruction of Waimarino's Vicky
Baker. Vicky attended rock 'n' roll classes while training at Teachers College in Palmerston North, and is currently coaching the Wanganui Rock 'n' Roll class for the Nationals later this year. The general feeling of the dancers is one of excitement and reward. Their faces expressed the depths of concentration and movability required to achieve a mirror image of each other. There are no experts and no champions - just people seeking the move to the rock 'n' roll revival. A committee has
been formed within the existing group and a name for the club is being considered. At the moment the charge is $1.00 for children and $2.00 for adults. President Diania
Baker and the dancers would like to see the group expand a lot more. "Its a chance to learn and keep fit all at once," says Diania, in an exhausted breath.
