VICE REGAL VISIT TO NEW RUAPEHU DISTRICT
The Governor General The Reverend Sir Paul Reeves and Lady Reeves are to be hosted by the Ruapehu District Council in November, soon after the council comes into being. But the vice regal visit itinerary does not include the southern Ruapehu District area at this stage, though they will visit the Chateau Tongariro at Whakapapa. The couple will visit Marae, hospitals, businesses, rest homes and schools in Ohura, Taumarunui and the surrounding area. A Civic reception will be held in their honour on Friday 10 November and on the Saturday they will open and present the Kinc Countrv Visual Arts Trust Art Awards.
