Waiouru level with top side
New first division rugby team Waiouru was out to prove it had made the transition from the second division on Saturday, and did so with a breath taking draw against top guns Marton Old Boys.
A penalty goal by Lachlan Haxding in the last minute brought the
two teams level-peg-ging on nine points. His goal came after two
earlier misses in the second half. Marton Old Boys led 9-3 at half time with three penalties kicked by Kevin Chase. Raetihi beats Marist Seconds Raetihi remains unbeaten after winning 30 against Marist Seconds on Saturday. The visitors to Raetihi missed several penalty kicks, including a last-dash one which hit an upright. A good show came from Raetihi players Shane Harvey at flank, prop Rangi Bishop and first five eighth Darren McDonnell. Ohakune Karioi loose to Counties Constant pressure by Counties won them the game on Saturday, 131 1 . They led 6-4 at half time and two leading Ohakune Karioi players left the field injured. Ohakune's points came from tries by Andrew Dupwell and Willie Taylor and a penalty by Brendan Wilson and Counties' points came from tries
by Charlie McNabb and Mike Whanau, one of which was converted by Greg Mathews, plus a penalty by Val Mathews.
