Waiouru second in division
Waiouru rugby seniors dropped two points behind the First Division leader Marton Old Boys after drawing 16 all with Ratana on Saturday.
Waiouru plays the division leaders this week and the team need to pick up their game to be in with a chance. ! Waiouru had led 13-6 at half time but Ratana's Dennis Ngatuere's goal kicking made up the difference.
The Army side didn't take second place in the points at any time in the game but they had lost some of their shine from the previous week. Haig Elgar played
well at halfback for Waiouru and the team's two tries were scored by Steve Cameron and Rick Tawhiri. Lachlan Harding kicked two penalties and a conversion. Ratana's points came from a try by Mat Kereti and four penalty goals by Dennis Ngatuere.
Raetihi beat old rivals Raetihi beat Oha-kune-Karioi 7-6 at Raetihi on Saturday, a win of a more slender margin than would have been expected. Raetihi was at full strength but Ohakune Karioi put on a much better effort than in recent times.
Coach - halfback Whetu Mareikura put on a good performance as well as controlling the game well. Raetihi's points came from a try by Robert Harris and a penalty from the boot of Thomas Waara and Ohakune Karioi's came from two penalty goals from Brendan Wilson.
