Tumblers at Porirua

The senior Turoa Tumblers gymnasts travelled to Porirua to compete in the Wellington Open Championships at the weekend. Stanella Ngarewa, in her first year of national competition, scored reasonably well on the vault in Grade 3. Carys Hubbard competing in the Junior Elite level came first on bars, second on beam and floor and third on vault to bring home the silyer medal. A good result as this is her last competition before set-

ting off to Perth next week. Shaun McLean was third on rings in Grade 5 and finished sixth overall. Warwick Hays came first on rings, second on pommel and third on floor and parallel bars to bring home the bronze medal. The boys combined with two Wanganui gymnasts to make up a composite team which was placed first. The boys competed in the National Teams competition on Sunday and their team came sixth.
