Ruapehu rugby trend continues

It was a mixed bag for Waimarino representative rugby teams on the weekend. Raetihi v Bulls Raetihi had a welldeserved win over Bulls, 20-18, in a cliffhanger match that had local fans on the edge of their seats. Bulls led Raetihi 1812 early in the second half, with Raetihi making a concerted effort in the last few minutes to produce the matchwinning try. Raetihi forwards played well in a solid block, with the rest of the team playing consistantly. Tries were scored by

Caton Te Moana, Darren McDonald, Kerry Brown and Rewaru Tihema. Thomas Waara kicked two conversions. Waiouru v Tech College OB Another great game, with Waiouru taking the match 32-10. Waiouru led 16-4 at half time. Good games were had by Lachlan Harding, Bo Ngata and Steve Guiney. Fullback Lachlan Harding kicked well and made some good runs for the team.

Tries were scored by Bo Ngata, Steve Guiney, Tai Morton, Rob Barclay and Rich Tawhiri. Lachlan Harding kicked four conversions. Ohakune-Karioi v Marton OB Ohakune came up against a brick wall when they played Marton, conceding the game 41-9. Mike Callaghan scored the team's sole try, converted by Brendan Wilson who also scored a penalty goal.
