CALENDAR OF OFFICIAL 1990 EVENTS COMPILED

Organisers of annual and special events that will take place in the Waimarino in 1990 are asked to register with the 1990 Commission. Events that qualify for registration are given recognition as Official 1990 Projects, and are give the use of the 1990 Official Project Logo and entry into the New Zealand national calendar of events to assist in each event's promotion. A local 1990 committee, yet to be formed, will assist in co-ordinating activities through 1990. Objectives for the commemoration year include highlighting and celebrating the natural advantages of the nation, increasing cultural understanding, encouraging activities that improve harmony, ensuring greater understanding of the rights and responsibilities of the two parties bound by the Treaty of Waitangi, encouraging planning for the next 50 years. District Manager John Murrihy is the Waimarino contact for the 1990 commission, phone 58364.
