Taumarunui satire starts soon

"Darling I'm Home" is the title of a play being performed by the Taumarunui Little Theatre soon.

The Little Theatre group, formerly the T aumarunui Repertory Society, are producing the satirical comedy, written by Jack Popplewell, with direction from David Grey. Performances begin on April 29 and after that run nightly from May 1 to May 6. 'Darling I'm Home' is a play involving four men and four women. The capable and experienced Celia is

growing more and more frustrated at staying at home and her husband Rupert is proving more and more inefficient as a businessman. It seems a good idea - though Rupert is shocked at first - that they should change places. Indeed Celia soon tums Rupert's business onto a profit-making course, while Rupert runs the house with equal efficiency and enthusiasm. Complications arise,

however, on both sides - not unconnected with Rupert's growing unease as Celia becomes increasingly the travelled and attractive male-ac-companied career woman. Matters are brought to a head by the arrival of daughter Karen to take up residence with two babies but, for the moment, no husband. Another character in the play is Janet, a typical neighbour who takes on the job of watching Rupert who is giving company to Inga. Inga is a young attractive Swedish girl who has moved in next door and is feeling very lonely. Robin was the housecleaner for the John's household. Now that Rupert has taken over the domestic duties Robin becomes more of a male companion. Barry is Celia's new secretary. however, he prefers to be called Celia's personal assistant. The eighth character

in the cast is Rodney. Hc is the father of Karen's children but is married to someone else.
