Smashed Jaffas rock

This Saturday night while you're rolling down the aisles at Hot Lava you'll be hearing the Smashed Jaffas band. They are members of two other bands, the Cunning Stunts and the peeping Toms. They play a mix of blues, driving rock and original music drawing their inspiration and covers from the likes of Lou Reed, Neil Young, Santana, and the Rolling Stones. The band's ex-

perience comes from years of playing together in several appearances at the New Zealand battle of the bands competitions. The members are Mike Demalmanche, Peter Cate, John Reynolds, and Dean Fischcr. Smashed Jaffas are playing Saturday 29 at Hot Lava, the first of

many to play at Ohakune's one and only nightclub this year. Also in the pipeline for this ski season are: When the Cat's Away, Tim Finn, from Australia - the Hoodoo Gurus and the Johnnys as well as the well-known bands from last year including the Waratas and Chigago Smokeshop and the Straitjacket Fits.
