Kindy hangi for puzzles
Organisation for the Ohakune Kindergarten's first ever Baton's Up night is well under way The evening begins with a hangi at 5.30pm on Monday May 1 at the Ohakune Primary School.
The Baton's Up night is aimed at family groups, hence the cheap price of the hangi at $3 a head. Ohakune Kindergarten officials are optimistic that the evening will be well supported. Around $550 is needed for the purchase of two crawl tunnels and a set of Duplo building blocks, a larger version of the popular Leggo blocks. Mrs Kumeroa is optimistic that both items - ideal for indoor play on wet days - can be purchased before winter. The huge range of prizes up for grabs ranging in value from $2-$50 - all donated by the business commuity - are a major drawcard of the night. Supporters of the evening will also be in the running for spot prizes and raffle prizes.
Fundraising by the Ohakune Kindergarten is on-going throughout the year. Mrs Kumeroa said the aim of the committee is to accu-
mulate equxpment - I toys, books, games etc I - gradually. Currently | on order are puzzles to the value of $250 to build up stock and replace those with pieces lost or broken. The Kindergarten caters for the needs of 56 pre-schoolers currently on the organisation's role.
