Waiouru baby sitting course held

A baby-sitting course was held in Waiouru over the weekend, run by the Waiouru Health Watch Committee. A total of 15 attended this course which was funded by the Resource Centre. There were four adults and 1 children ranging between 10 and 19 years old including two boys. Those who attended were instructed on action to be taken under several different types of circumstances involving CPR to what to do in an earthquake. The lectures were given by the St John Ambulance, police and a kindergarten teacher. One of the ladies running the course said that the behaviour of the children was exceptional for such a long day and those attending the course found it very informative and enjoyable. Topics discussed were fire and earthquake, what to do when in charge of small children, how to cope with strange callers, noises and things that go bump in the night, nappy folding, treating choking, cuts, burns and poisoning, CPR demonstration, how to cope with crying babies, and entertainment of children. All in all an intensive and informative programme for those attending.
