Waiouru X country

Children from Waiouru Primary School took part in their Cross Country Race on Friday afternoon. This involved children from Standard 2 to Form 2 - in all approximately 200 children - who completed a course around a section of the Waiouru Golf Course. A number of the first place getters will take part in races against Raetihi and Taihape Schools sometime in the near future. The children ran courses according to their age groups: Boys and Girls under nine years, Boys and Girls 10 and 11 years old, and Boys and Girls 12 years and over. The first four place getters in each section were:

Girls 9 years and under: 1, Shiree Astwood; 2, Michaela Peterson; 3, Charmain Mateara; 4, Corena Cunningham. Boys 9 years and under: 1, David Fitchett; 2, John Daniels; 3, John Hood; 4, Ben Rolfe. Girls 10 to 11 years: 1, Sabrina Copney; 2, Kim Stirrat; 3, Shannon Vartha; 4, Tina Knight. Boys 10 years old: 1, Chevell Martin; 2,

Christopher Phillips; 3, Scott MacGibbon; 4, Duane Ruru. Boys 11 years old: 1, Blaise Smith; 2, Nathan Ruru; 3, Jason Hesketh; 4, Ryan Brewer. Girls 12 and over: 1, Correna Hawira; 2, Rochelle Taite; 3, Georgina Hutson; 4, Teney Takituma. Boys 12 and over: 1, Mark Whittaker; 2, Heath Faulkner; 3, James Yewen; 4, Bernard Hardiman.
