Tauamrunui caravan meet
Organisers of the New Zealancf Motor Caravan Association enjoyed a highly successful Easter weekend and a great turnout for the N.Z.M.C.A Easter Rally. Officials were in the region the week before preparing for the event, by marking out the
domain according to safety regulations for up to 300 motor vans. The weekend's programme included workshops on gas testing, building and self containment. A children's and teens shipwreck fancy dress party and a concert with a 'back to school'
theme were both highly successful. Every Easter the N.Z.M.C.A hold their annual general meeting and this year's was a marathon effort, lasting a total of eight hours. The initial contact with N.Z.M.C.A organisers to hold their A.G.M in Taumarunui was made in November 1987 at a field day to promote sports and recreation by members of the T.D.P.D.A. The Taumarunui Business and Retailers Association supported f this by holding a market day which was well attended, coupled with a street parade organised by the Taumarunui Cosmopolitan Club to celebrate their 50th Jubilee. . By Tuesday morning March 28, nearly all
the motor vans had left and there was nothing left to do but to clean up after the weekend. Organisers say all in
all it was a highly successful weekend which the N.Z.M.C.A will be keen to repeat in the future.
