PR Officer introduces herself

Hello everyone, my name is Aroha Rudkin - I am your new Information Officer for the T aumarunui and Districts Promotions and Development Association. Since this is my first Round the Mountain News, I thought I would let you know a little about myself. I was born and raised on the East Coast, but went to high school at Stratford. I have memories of T aumarunui but only when the train stopped, hwoever my father often drove Highway 43

via Whangamomona through Taumarunui to Taupo, and I'm pleased to see that route being promoted. My husband and I have managed farms for the Land Corporation for 16 years, eleven of those at National Park where we also run a small farm of our own. My daughters attend National Park Primary School where I am chairperson of the school person. My first job since having children was working at Park Headquarters at Whakapapa, an experience I thoroughly enjoyed and

where I leamed a great deal about Tongariro National Park. It was during that time that I passed my

certificate to teach Jazzergetics with the Les Mills World of Fitness. I still teach and have a very enthusias-

tic class. I enjoy talking to people which is one of the reasons I applied for this position. Al-

though I know little about Taumarunui and its districts, I am keen to learn and would welcome the opportunity

to do so. I look forward to what the coming year brings.

Aroha

Rudkin.
