OUR HISTORY

In connection with the establishment of post office savings banks and money-order offices at the various post-offices throughout the Waimarino and which was recently brought up in the House (of Representatives) by Mr Jennings M.P. in view of the disinclination of private banks to take action, that energetic Member has received the following communication from the Postmaster-General, Sir Joseph Ward: - "In reference to your question on November 13 last as to whether

post office savings banks would be established at offices in the southern portion of the King Country, I have the honour to inform you that it is being arranged to open money-order offices and savings banks at Manunui, Matiere, Piopio, Piriaka and Rangataua. I regret that it has not been possible to arrange with the Postmasters at Horopito, Mangapehi, Ongarve, and Porootarao to take charge of accounting offices."
