Pulp mill fire

Ohakune Volunteer firemen attended an emergency at Winstones Pulp Mill's compressor room at about 12.30pm on Sunday. A fire caused a great deal of damage to the mill's compressor, housed beneath the wood room according to fire chief Max Martin

The fire was brought under control soon after the brigade arrived. The damage has caused the wood room to be out of service for a short time but has not affected the operation of the pulp mill. The cost of repairs have not yet been officially estimated.
