McGregor Steamship Co
The McGregor Steamship Company has purchased the mission steamer Southern Cross from the Melanesian Mission as she lies at her moorings off Judge's Bay. It is the intention of the company to take the engines and boiler, Avhicii are of an up-to-date type and in first class order, out of the vessel and jdace them in the new steamer which they are about to build for their increasing coastal trade. The Southern Cross will be turned into a sailing vessel and being built of oak with teak planking will be well adapted for that purpose. The McGregor Company expect to have the new steamer running in conjunction with their steamer Claymore on the AVarkAvorth trade early in the new year.
