TAUHOA.

(A Correspondent.)

SALVATION ARMY,

Fine weather favoured the tAVO army officers for there meeting on Sunday, 20th September. The attendance was not quite so good as usual, this was owing a good deal, I think, to the heavy clouds that.Aveue floating about in the afternoon, but fortunately did not break here. But judging from the close state of the atmostpheie and peals of thunder, someone else got what Aye escaped. As stated in a previous report, a musical eveningwas announced and was to have taken place on the Bth Sept last, but owing to a bad night, wet and windy, it had to be put off, but Adjt. Daniels announced his intention of trying his luck on 6th of October next. We must therefore hope he will have a fine night and a good attendance as a collection isto be taken in aid of th» neAv hall fund.

MILITARY MANOCUA'RES,

The members of the R.M. Rifles of Tauhoa, Port Albert and Wharehine intend having a military ball here in October.

I'ARMIXG PROGRESS,

As there is not much bush here to fall noAv tlu settlers are putting in their time fencing. There has been a few miles of Avire uncoiled and strained in this district lately. I think I Avould be safe in saying all barb. SOCIAL. It is also reported that the Mangakura end of the district intend having a social in October in the Potihi Hall, so Aye Avill not die for the Avant of amusement for the next month or so.
