Volunteer Notes.
A gymlchana in connection with the Ist Battn. A.M.R. is being arranged for early in summer.
The parade called for Sept. 19th is a "Paid Daylight Parade" at which some very interesting work will be gone through. - All commanders of firing squads are, hold personally liable if the necessary i "inspection of arms" does not takej -pface previous to olass-liriitg practises J, Steps are being taken for the formation of a Battalion Band and it is highly probable that the militaiy mattwill be stirred to further deeds of daring by the martial strains of music at the next Battalion Camp. A challenge trophy for rifle shooting, value £25, has been offered to the Ist Battn. Auckland Mtd. Rifles by James Kirker, Esq. A concensus of opinion is being obtained from squadron commanders as to the mo3t suitable method of competition.
Very satisfactory arrangements have been made between R.M.R. and Rodney Agricultural Society for the use of the latter's property as firing points, in fact the Society's representative has made liberal concessions that will probably be readily accepted by the squadron at a future date.
