TO THE EDITOR
Sir:—-Replying to Mr. F» Woodcock's letter in your last issue, it ris not my intention to enter into f nther details which ai-e none too edifying, but trust that in future, the powers that be, will be moro carofulftu conserve the inter-, esfs of individual-, in their methods of disposing..,of grass .seed, from off throads. If the Eoad Board has power to sell, I would point out to its members that the grass is then public property and it would bo infinatly more satisfactory to the settlers concerned to advertise for tenders in the usual \vay than to make a private bargain with one of its own members for the right, for a paltry amount, to-clear the seed from off the frontage of other peoples properties. Whoever the legal aspect may be the moral right is very questionable, neither do I think the action l)f tlTe board irl this matter it?, generally approved of by the ratepayers.
Yours etc, A. Trotter. [This correspondence is c ose-J. Ed.]
