Messrs Nathaniel Wilson and Shoesmith waited on the board $s a deputation from the Waikwftrft Sports Committee for the purpose of obtaining inforrnatiftn i^ ponneGtion with the Recreation Grpupds, stating that there was a sum in hand of about £20 which it was dashed |o spend for reareation p*ound pui-pqites, and $lftt they-wouldlike gome guarantee that this money would he spent fa? the benefit of the public, Attention was also, drawn as tQ wljet-Uev $\\Q Rodney Agricultural Society were fencing on their pro, er boundary. Reference was made to the map which defined Section 96b, containing Gi aoi-es set aside for public recreation purposes. From Mr. AY. Re smalt diviatiou on road leading j from Blutcher** road to Mr« Dill's I property, Mr. Taylor p*opo*e4 that Mr. Dill's offer to do same ho accepted Mr. Vipond to see to the work* soeouded by Mr. Shepherd aud oarried, Mr. Frederiak Woodcock* Maungakoura oflered the Board the sum of 10s. for the rijfht to eufc grass-seed from off the road adjoining his j propert%v-The offer was accepted. :' Rosolved that Mr. Taylor attend to j the matter of sowing grass-seed on the pound property. / Mr. Woodcook proposed Mr. Vipond seconded that Messrs Barton, Shepherd and Taylor, wait upon the County Council to as a deputation to see what can be done by joint action, to clear the gorse from off the roadst f~ Mr. Chaplin notified to the Board that he felt that he could not see his way clear to carry on the duties of clerk and would like to be relieved of the duties, at the end of March next. He regretted to have to sever his connection with tltfs Boa^d, but ho felt that owing to growing infirmities and, in justice to the Board he must ask [ them to accept his resignation.. He h*d served as secretary for over 20 3'ears. Mitch regret was expressed by tlie members of the Board at receiving this intimation from Mr. Chaplin.
Mr. Vipond proposed, accounts for £54 Bs. lid. be passed for payment, seconded by Mr. Woodcock and
carried.
