The matter of ft ally fixing the data of the > how-—for whioh the meeting had been oalled—was discussed. The books were examined and showed that in the year 1899 when the show was held qii a Saturday, reoeipts: Gates £30 ss, 3d,; Concert and dance £23 6s, Year 1901 (Tuesday): Gates, £30 3s, 6d.; Conoert and Banoe, £26 19s.

If the petr - ion were again taken to the same people to sign they would willingly do so again. He favoured a minute of censure on the writer being recorded. Mr. Scandvett thought that it was quite right to give the local people, first place and let? visit us take a second place.

In reply to a question from. Mr. Hood. Mr. Thomson said that he had something to do -with getting up the petitions.

Mr. Morrison said that if he had wanted to go round with the petition he could have got any amount of signatures.

Mr. Hood said thot Messrs Morrison and Thomson had enlightened him somewhat about this petition, as he t did n.,t know that any member of the committee had had anything to do with it, All the same he thought it was not a gentlemanly letter to send.
