ST. ANDREW'S DAY
St. Andrew's Day was celebrated here by a grand entertainment given by the Caladonian Society iv the Library Hall, to an absolutely crowd od house. All the heads of families in the district -were invited, also a number of visitors from Aucklaud and dis tricts round. Waipu. .The hall was tastefully decorated with ferns and other greenery, and the windows were draped with bunting. At the back of the stage St. Andrew's flag occupied a prominent place, also the " Lion Kamrjant,'' the national flag of Scotland. Several ladies and gentlemen I from Whangarei assisted at the concert, and their respective performances were most credibly rendered, each item being received with great applause, while encores were numerous. Two gentlemen from Auckland, viz , Messrs Brownhili and Carter, also contributed songs. The concert passed off without a hitch, and a ward of praise is due to the concert committee on the successful issue of one of the best entertainments of the year. The president of the society, Mr. Craig, and the secretary, Mr. Neil McLeod, also deserve great praise for their untiring efforts in bringing aboxit such j a highly satisfactory result

McLeod; song, " The Skipper," Mr M, Wilson, song, -'The Macgroggors' gathering," Miss McMillan; song, " Jessie's Dream.'' Mr. J. McGregor, with a recitation introduced by Mr. F. Wilson j sword dance, Mr. Duncan McKay; song, " Asleep in the Deep," Mr. W. ; lleybourn; song, " Sally Homer," Miss Alderton; song "My Highland Hame," Mr. Carter; song, "In the Hush of Twilight," Miss Wilson; ilighland fiinj?, Mr. Moon • song, -'The Deep Blue Sea," Mr. Brownhill; Highland reel, Messrs N. McLeod, J. McGregor, M. Moon and D. McKay; song, " The Cock o' the North," Miss McMillan ; song, " The March of the Cameron Men," Mr. McGregor ; song, " Sweetest Story ever told," Mr. M, . Wilson ; song, " The Bonnie Hills of Scotland," Sir. Carter; song, "Out ;on the Deep," Mr. Eeyburn; recitation, Mr. Boyd. The entertainment was [ brought to a close by the singing of. The supper supplied by Mr, Henshaw, steward of the s,s. Bob Roy, gave every satisfaction. Quite a number cf dishes w-er- there to choose from, and the tables were arrange*;! in a very tasteful style, .
