The Second Floral, Industrial and Art Exhibition took place on Tuesday Dec. 3rd, The Day was splendid, and everyone enjoyed the outing. The show of flowers was beautiful, of good quality and very tastefully made up, especially the bouquets, and there was a large number of exhibits.
In Dairy Produce, Bread, etc., there was a good competition, and the exhibits of excellent quality. There were no: so many exhibits in the Industrial class as last year, nor was the composition so good, but everything was first class. I' noticed some Logan berries (shown by Mr. B. Witten) which is said not to sucker. Mr, Clarke had some fine strawberries. The prooeeds of the show are in aid of the Hall funds, No money prizes were given, a first and second class certificate of merit were given, and the ladies who took the most prizes in class A, C and D, each get a card table, made by Mr, T, Handby, The tops are of inlaid woods, and look well, The judges for flowers, needle work etc. were Mrs, Sainsbury and Mrs, R. Brown, and Mr, Sainsbury judged the dairy produce etc.
In the evening a concert took place opening with an overture, cornet find piano. Song "One Hundred Feet Deep" Mr, Sims. March on Bagpides Mr. McKenzie (Waide); song "Dear Heart" Miss Jenkinson, song "I was in it" Mr, Syme, songl'"Parting" Mr. Richards, song; " S ar of Bethlehem Mrs. Adlington, sang "That's, not the Way at Sea" Mr, D Kempt, song "Forget" Mr, Sims, Banjo solo Mr. Axey, March on bagpipes Mr, Alex,. McKenzie, song "The Toilers" Mrs, Adlington, song- "After Me 1' Mr Syme, song "Venetian Boat Song" Miss Jenkinson, song "Tomorrow Will be Friday" Mr. Syme, An interval of five minutes, after which the same ladies and gentlemen took part in the second part of the concert, concluding with "God Save the King,'.'
