The library Social held here on Friday last was an entire success socially and financially. Visitors from 'Warkworth and fauhoa assisted m iterially towards this pleasant consumition, this is as it should be, for Kaipara Flats people numerically at i^ast, are generally in evidence at Warkworth social gatherings, and social reciprocity is looked for and appreciated.

Mr. Hantia C. E. has during the previous week commenced the permanent engineering of the railway extention AA'hich is to be carried <«n through the North.

The allocation of only £15,000 for this railway does not evoke any gratitude, double the amount would have ©nly been moderate, in view of the exigencies of present affairs, in connect, on with-this extension.

The Eav.. E. McKinney and Mrs. Mclvinney visited this district on Sunday last and Divine Service was held iv the school house . A large congregation attended from all parts of the district, evidence of ihe esteem in which Mr. Mclvinney is held as pastor and friend.

Mr. iPetrie, His Majesty's Inspector of schools visited this district on' Monday the .28. inst. for school examination and the result was exceedingdy creditable to the teacher, Miss *Ciuinn, only two failurt-s out of the number presented for examination.
