Kaipara Flats

On Monday last, the Hth. inst, the remains of Mrs. Taylor, relict of the late Mr. Robert Taylor, were brought for enterment in our Anglican Cemetery. The deceased lady who had been in failing- health for a long time, expired at the residence of her daughter and son-iu-law, Mrs. and Mr. E. Morrison, of Red Bluff, Warkworth, on tho 13th. The late Mr. and Mrs, Taylor were with the earliest days of this settlement, arriving here nearly forty years ago and settling Avith their liumeTous family in the heart of the bush. They bravely did pioneer duty in opening up this settlement. They were also warm adherents of the English Church and gave valuable assistance in establishing the present structure, but previous to the erection of a church building, the late Bishop Selwyn on uiord than one occasion partook of their hospitality and held Divine Services in their household. In the early days of the settlement, when medical doctors were not to be procured, Mrs. Taylor was always ready with skill and sympathy to minister to the sick and dying. Mr. Robert Taylor predeceased his wife about nine years ago at the age of 77. Mrs. Taylor attained the ripe age of 79 years 10 months and leaves a numerous family of sons and daughters. Many beautiful wreaths were placed upon the grave, and Mr. E. Gr. Clements, lay reader, efficiently performed the burial service os the I church.
