GERMAN TRADE
Further evidence that Germany is passing through a somewhat severe industrial crisis is supplied by the annual report of the Dresden Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which has just been published. The turnover in many cases shows a considerable decrease as compared with the past few years. In but very few industries does it show an. increase. Many manufacturers complain that they are frequently compelled to work at a loss owing tc the high prices of the raw material and the low selling prices. The position of the workmen is becoming gradually worse; short time is being worked in many factories, whiltf in others men are being dismissed, and wages lowered. Small tradesmen are suffering severely from the reduced purchasing power of the people. The general impression is that the prospects of an early turn for the better are small.
