INQUEST.

At the Inquest (held by the District coroner, L. P. Becroft Esq.) upon tlie body of the late Robert Walker, evidence was taken to show that while perf< .rming his work, he incautiously tried to put a 4 inch belt on a driving pully from the wrong side of the main .shaft, and got caught, resulting in instantaneous death, and horrible mutiLition of the poor fellow's body. The Jury (Mr. G. 0. Nicholson, foreman) recorded a verdict of accidental death by being caught in the beltiLg and twisted round the main s<,aft of the mill. That. n< blame was attached to anybody. Th« funeral of deceased ivas attended by a large number of settlers and workmen from both saw-mills. In answer to letter seeking Union with the Rodney Association, it was, after consileml, thought that the distance betwee<l the several clubs concerned,' was against .such union, and it was resolved to answer letter to that effect.
