Last week the l< Cornish Arms, 1' at the Hakaru, with all outbuildings was burnt down, nothing being left but the chimneys. The buggy was saved and a few sacks of gum, no other salvage. The property is insured- the hotel for £400; outbuildings, £220; stock, trade, and furniture, £600. Mr. Laycock estimates his losses between £800 and £1000. Mrs. Sarah also is a looser of about £200.. Miss Robertson is leaving the Beach School, at her request, and will take un her duties .at the Town School in Nelson Street, us assistant teacher. Mr, Shannon who has worked hard for this object, was1 present and explained -tilings, which up to the present appear satisfactory.
