The -month'y meeting of the Road 3oarcl was held in the Hall on S.aturlay August 17th. Present, Messrs C. S.. Clarke (ehs-ir-nan), fir. Sadler, H, Browm W.. Greenvood, .and D. Kempt. Only one tender was received for s-ork ,at CaxbeadV creek.. Messrs Yalter and George Wyatt for the urn of £4 9s. 3d. which w*s Jiceepted. Messrs G. S. Clarke and D., Kempt vere appointed, to inspect and pass he above work when done., A general rate of fd. in the £ was truck on all rateable property in the listrict. A telegram was received from the Chairman of the Committee sitting on he Counties' Bill at Wellingten, re n-oposals of the Board. The Chairnan was authorised to send the folowing telegram in replj, " The Omata Road Board are of opinion that exsting Road Boards, which were workng satisfactorily should be retained, -hat the franchise extend only to rate>ayers. That no Board should be a>olished or amalgamated contrary to he wishes of the ratepayers, As it is lot proposed to pay honorarium to trustees, no deposit should be requirid when nominated. Otherwise generilly in favour of Bill" Mr, W. Wyatt is to be employed wo days to remove a land slip at 3unnings' creek, Messrs. lift Brown, "_?_ Shannon, x. Jennings and D. Kempt, Were ap)ointed a committee for Te Arai, and dessrs. E. Yipond, N. G. Anderson, r. Gozer and D. Kempt for Whangaipo for the expenditure of thirds &c.
