Port Albert.
The Library committee met 'on Monday 19fh. to devise means for temporary -care and issue of books until new Library room is ready to receive them. Messrs Dudding, L, P. Ijecroft and G. Nicholson were appointed a committee to arrange for a concert to be held on the Friday before full moon in October next to aid the building funds. The Albertland Road Board met on Monday last. Messrs T. A. Gubb, L. P. Becrofr, J. Grant, H. Li-ten and 3, A. Shepherd were present. The following resolution was unanimously carried (in answer, to a telegram from Weliingi on seeking the Board's opinion on various proposed clnuses in the Local Authorities Bill). (3) That many of the present existiuj Koad Board districts are too small That no Board should contain los than 20 ratepayers and an annual re venue from rates of £60, (4)-That the power of retaining o: amalgamating or merging Eoad Board: be invested in the hands of the .Count) Councils. (5) This Board is of the opinion thai Local bodies should have ex.eiidec power for rating purposes; that the maximum amount should be G farthings in the pound for each .road or County district, to be levied and controlled the same way as at prerent, The last week of fihe .weather has clone more to improve ihe condition of the roads than legions pf local bodies can do.
