Puhoi.
For some time past it has been thought desirable to establish a Rifle Olub in the district for the purpose of teaching those desirous of learning the proper handling and use of'- the rifle, but it was not till la-1 Saturday week. August 3rd., that the initial step was, taken. On that date a meeting was held at 6.30 p.m. Mr. G. C. 13©unis boirig in tho . chair.. The chairman stated the object of the meeting andi informed those present that already nineteen names had been handed in for inoniberskip.
Af-er some discession it was unanimously decided to make application to the Government to have a Rifle Club established in the district, Mr. Dennis being deputed to go to town to obtain information' re necessary, requisites. r ~ On the motion of Messrs W. Billing and J. Scholium Jr. it was decided to call the proposed club the Puhoi Imperial Rifle Club. Messrs G. (\ Dennis and T, D. Rice were electe-I captain and secretary of the propo?ed club, respectively, and Jno. Scholium junr., A. Schischka, Jos- Wenzlick, the captain and the secretary were appointed a committee) to select a suitable place fur rifle range.
