CAUGHT CROCODILE WITH BARE HANDS
DAEWIN. To win a bet, a Darwin fisherman jumped into a fish trap and tied up a live six-foot crocodile. He is Mr. M. Gunnellas, and originally came from Victoria and has several fish traps on beaches in Darwin Harbour. The bet was made with Mr. Harry Brown, of Darwin, who had an order for a live crocodile from Taronga Pailr Zoo, Sydney. "I jumped on top of the croc," said •Mr. Gunnellas, "and held it with the front legs and its tail with my feet. But it swung over and we both crashed into the mesh wall of the trap, almost knocking it over. When the. crocodile snapped at me its teeth caught in the netting, and I managed to wind some wire around its mouth." Mr. Gunnellas used his helt to strap the crocodile t0 one of the posts in the. trap. Eve^tually he got the crocodile into a box and it is now being held, waiting shipment to Sydney.
