JIGGER COLLIDES WITH TRAIN IN TUNNEL

PALMERSTON NTH., last night. A railway employee, Mr. Esmond William Thompson, of -Station Streot, Woodville, met instantaneous death to-day when the motor jigger he was travelling on came into head-on cbllision with a goods train* in a Shorfe tunnel at the Woodville end of the Manawatu Gorge. He was returning from the Te Apiti siding. Deceased was 26 years of age, married, hui had no family.
