WHITE RUSSIANS SEEK TO ENTER AUSTRALIA
BRISBANE. Although 10,000 White Russians vere waiting- to come to Australia 'rom Shanghai, appeals for permits o the Immigration Department were >eing disregarded, said the director •f the Russian and European Chrisian Mission in Brisbane, Mr. Andew Clark. Mr. Clark saidi that, aceording to lis information, more than 200 ap:lications from White Russians, had men forwarded to the Immigration Department several months ago, but' io answer had been received. Mr. Clark said that the Rdv. A. A. Gouroff, Shanghai representative of -he mission, had thoroughly checked il'l applications by White Russians to nake sure the lapplicants were of good character and democratic poliics. There would be no trouble in iccommodating them if they came to Australia. Many families in the country were prepared to provide quar.ers for them.
