Police Could Not Cope j With Crowd LONDON, Feb. 12. A special force of 35 foot and five mounted constables could not cope with a clieering crowd of about 2000 men and women who swept into the road outside St. Margaret's Church, Westminster, and surrounded the car carrying Mr. Churchill and his daughter Mary to the latter's wedding w'ith Captain Christopher Soames. Women and children lay full length on the pavenient and poked heads and shoulders beneath the awnings to see the bride. The police with difficulty cleared a way to the church, where 800 guests were waiting to see one of London's biggest weddings since the war. The Exchange Telegraph says Mr. ' Attlee and Mrs. Attlee were greeted with some boos when they entered the church. Prominent guests included Lord and Lady Mountbatten, Mr. Anthony Eden, Lord Portal and the former American Ambassador, Mr. R. Winant.
