RAILWAYS TELEPHONE SERVICE DISRUPTED
Considei'able dislocation of the Railways Department telephone systcm in Rotorua was experiencedxyeslerday through damage done to- derartmental lines by Sunday's electrical storm in the Mamakus. Of the station's fouf internal telephones, only one was in action for the greater part of the day,' the lines rperating the other three being tangled when a pole fell with the force of the wind. The lines were restored late in the afternoon. The Rotorua Postmastei*, Mr. G. A. Wilkes, stated last night that no P. an\T. lines had been affected by the stornj. The public lines were laidon an entirely diiferent route to the Railwuys Department's, which naturallv i'ollowed the permanent way.
