; (To the Editor) ; Sir, — I notice that the attention of the Borough Couneil has heen drawn _ to the amount of petty thieving takj ing plaee in your town. Last Mon- ■ day Aveelc, my schoolboy son AAras ac- : eosted by a man in the town. He j pitched a tale of a male with no j money, coald he possibly bor'OAV Il-O/- ] and he would meet the lad at the 'bus j stop and pay him back next day. He 1 was so persistent and it Avas evening ! so to get rid of him. the boy gave J him a 'f eAV shillings to buy a meal. A 1 weelc later, he saw the same man and I heard him asking another man for a ! pound; no luck, and do you knoAv, he ! had the cheek to turn to the sehool- ! boy and ask him for more money. But | onee bitten, tAvice s'hy and he did not ! get any more. "Yes I'll surely meet you at the bus stop to-morrow inornIng and give it back." Needless to I say he wasn't there. ; j However, on going to the bafhs the lad removed his money and rvatch and handed them to the* caretaker, qnite ! fopgetting a valued fountain pen which Avas in his pocket. Han'ging up his coat he turned it round against the Avall so that is school badge would not be seen. When.he °at from the baths, the coat had evidently bcen searched for it Avas turnd around the right Avay and the pen Avas missing. So if any person sees another using a wine mottled pen, with a brown mottled top, please inform the police. It is an unusual eombination and not lilcely to be plentiful in the town. — I am ete., .
